With our wedding just one day away, white is on my mind. Particularly a little, white dress I have to squeeze myself into tomorrow. Sucking in aside, wouldn’t it be nice to get ready in a beautiful, bright, white bathroom? I can’t think of a better place to spend the morning of the “big day.”
Of course, not everyone would feel that way. When it comes to all-white, I find people either love it or hate it. Those who love it find it clean, airy and fresh. Those who hate it feel it’s sterile, cold and boring.

While I may not be the biggest fan of fall, there’s one thing I do love about it: the chunky, cozy, make-you-want-to-cuddle throws. With a new husband and a new home drifting closer on the horizon, I figured it was high time for a new mattress. Only problem: Which one?
Wandering through the world of mattresses is like navigating through troubled water. Everywhere you dock, you hear another cautionary tale. Cheap mattresses sag. Spring mattresses are lumpy. Memory foam mattresses are hot. But the most worrisome of all: a large number of all types of mattresses contain harmful chemicals.
You’ve probably smelled them. I know I have. The last mattress I got, a Tempurpedic, reeked for weeks. Luckily, it was summer. So we opened the windows and let the smell float to the heavens not thinking much of it.
Turns out, we should have. The fumes were toxic VOCs, which by now you’ve probably heard all about. VOCs (volatile organic compounds) cause a number of harmful health problems including cancer. So they’re not particularly something you want to sleep on.
While the first signs of fall have most people giddy with glee, I go into mourning. Not because I don’t like fall, but because I truly love summer. The blue of the sky. The green of the trees. The warmth of the water. The flowers. The fruits. The fantastic weather.
To me, fall signifies the end of the bounty of summer, and most importantly, paddle boarding. I would spend all day, every day on the water if possible.
