What a View: Breathtaking New Zealand Homes

6.29.12

A few months ago, I stumbled across these two jaw-dropping New Zealand homes while looking for wedding and honeymoon destinations and haven’t been able to get them off my mind. Just look at those views. Heavenly.

And they couldn’t be framed better. The houses below make me seriously rethink walls. I can only imagine how spectacular it must feel to be that immersed in nature. Talk about a stunning place to wake up in the morning. How I wish I was there.

HOUSE 1: Located on Waiheke Island, this home was featured in New Zealand House & Garden. From what I understand, at one point the home was rented for weddings — hence the photos above. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.

Back in the Saddle

They say there’s only one thing that will keep a cowboy from riding, and it’s not whiskey or even women. It’s his body. And I now know exactly what they mean.

For the past fours years, my body has been waging war against me. Hives. Itchiness. Dizziness. Disorientation. Headaches. Stomach aches. Joint pain. Memory loss. Swelling.

At one point, I was so swollen, I literally had a turkey giblet. It wasn’t a pretty sight. Needless to say, I wasn’t close to being “camera ready,” and not a single doctor — from the heartland to either coast — could figure out what was wrong. So I decided to go into hiding and write a book hoping that by the time it was released, I’d be better.

No such luck. I still looked like a polka-dotted blimp — to put it kindly. So after dosing up on prednisone — a steroid that magically erases all inflammatory reactions — to get through the book photos and tour, I went back into hiding.

But not anymore. Thanks to the wonderful people at the Riordan Clinic, specifically Dr. Ron Hunninghake, I’m finally back in the saddle — with tons of new insights and information to share — and ready to get this show on the road.

I can’t thank you enough for your patience. It means the world to me. And know, there’s only one thing that will ever keep me from this wonderful rodeo with you: my own body.

Here’s to a healthy start and a brand new blog and video series.
